Connecting with God in Worship - Kalkaska Church of Christ

Emotionally Connecting with God in Worship

Music has a remarkable way of stirring our emotions and transcending language barriers. In the realm of worship, music becomes a powerful medium to connect with God on a deep and emotional level. In this article, we will explore the biblical perspective on emotionally connecting with God through musical worship. We are called to be active participants in worship by offering our hearts fully to Him. SELF DEFENSE?

Over the last few weeks, our life group has been diving into the Sermon on the Mount. There are a ton of great messages we get from it: don’t judge, don’t worry or be anxious, and of course, we have the Lord’s Prayer. There are, however, a lot of difficult teachings in there as well: love your enemies, be peacemakers, and equating hate and lust to murder and adultery. There’s one idea that seems to be a common thread throughout the entire sermon How COVID has affected us

SPICING IT UP WITH CHANGE

I’ve decided to change the name of my blog. My invisible blog. LOL It was called “Writer’s Block.” It wasn’t easy to find. In fact, when I Google “Writer’s Block” my blog does not come up. Go figure. The term “Writer’s Block” has been circulating for decades so that may have something to do with it.  Anyway, the new title of my blog is “Christian Living in the Digital Age.” This is a blog where I write about the Christian faith, How COVID has affected us

Trust the amplifier

Sunday, during first service, my voice started to leave me.  If you were here or watching online, you heard me comment about it.  Fortunately, my wife gave me some hot tea before second service and things were fine.  The problem I have is that in my mind I don’t think you can hear me and so I talk louder.  If I just talked and allowed the sound guys to amplify my voice I could probably avoid the whole problem. Kalkaska packs over 50,000 meals for IDES

IDES pack assembles over 50,000 meals!

A giant THANK YOU goes out to the approximately 80 individuals who participated in the IDES pack. The initial goal had been to assemble 50,000 packs, and this goal was not only met but exceeded, with a total of 50,112 packs boxed for potential shipment to the Philippines. The contributions from fish banks, donations from other churches, and proceeds from shirt sales (some still available at $10 each) collectively amounted to over $3,000! It was apparent that everyone had a How COVID has affected us
Priorities in life

Priorities

Col 3:2 “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.” The youth are currently working through a series that focuses on priorities. We’ve been discussing the importance of having our priorities in order and what it means to align our priorities with God’s. It is important to make sure that the things important to God are also important to us. We can get caught up in the business of life, and we can be How COVID has affected us

Salvation Confusion

If you listen to one preacher give an invitation to “invite Jesus into your life,” he might lead you in a prayer. If you listen to another preacher prodding you to become a Christian, he might be telling you to be baptized. Yet another preacher might tell you to “Believe in your heart” and you will be saved.  If these preachers are all Christian, Bible-believing men, then why the confusion? Why are they offering what appears to be conflicting invitations? I’m How COVID has affected us
2 14 project background

KCC helps out a Neighbor

Volunteers from the Kalkaska Church of Christ in partnership with Freedom Builders of Traverse City, Michigan participated in a 2:14 project on Thursday, September 7, 2023. The team installed two doors, a window, and stairs into the home. Georgia Beaver provided a delicious lunch for the workers. This is called a 2:14 Project based on the Bible verse in James that says, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? How COVID has affected us

Fall into Discipleship

You probably could have guessed this was coming as the subject of my article this week. School just started back last week. Ephraim is having his kickoff tonight for the youth group. Sara is getting ready for WASP and Octane to fire back up. And yes, we have programs for adults, as well. I call it our discipleship rhythm. And, believe it or not, we don’t offer these things just to fill your calendar or because we don’t have anything else to do. I’m not trying How COVID has affected us
God's beauty is all around us

Beauty All Around

The world is FULL of complainers. It is not only annoying but contagious. It is very easy to find things that are “wrong.” I get it. There is a lot wrong in our world. But what if we changed our focus and perspective and started not only looking for the good but pointing it out for others to see and enjoy? I think that is contagious as well!  Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is How COVID has affected us
