This just in: Wise Men Kicked out of Christmas!
I know this is the time for holiday cheer and for great joy to fill our lives. Most of us have already adorned our tree with ornaments and lights, we’ve filled our home with festive decorations, and we’ve no doubt put our nativity scenes in place. One of the things I remember most about Christmas time growing up was having to listen to my mother complain every time we passed by a nativity scene that had the wise men at the How COVID has affected us
Happy Birthday Jesus
It’s almost my best friend’s birthday!!! I’m so excited to celebrate! Of course, I’m referring to my bestie Jesus! I like to look at Christmas as more of a birthday party for him so that I remember WHY we are celebrating. It can get a little too reindeer, green tree, shopping, lights, and movies for me. Don’t get me wrong…I like all of those things too…I just don’t LOVE them. Not even close to how much I love Jesus! So How COVID has affected us
King of the Jews
Matthew 2:1-2, “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.’” Most scholars believe these magi (or wise men) were astrologers or astronomers; men who studied the stars and planets. What Does Christmas Mean to You?

The stores are playing Christmas tunes as people hustle through the isles filling their shopping carts with gifts to make the little ones smile. “Buy now pay later” is the catchphrase of the season. Christmas trees, wrapping presents, baking cookies, and parties with family and friends are all part of this festive time of year. A reporter asked various How COVID has affected us
A Reason for the Season
Going into this Christmas season, one of my sermon ideas was to do a series entitled, “A very cliche’ Christmas.” I thought I would title each sermon one of the cliches we see this time of year. And I think I was going that way out of jealousy. I mean, wouldn’t it have been cool to say that you were the one that came up with, “Jesus is the reason for the season?” I will say, though, as much as How COVID has affected us

So what are the things that overshadow the true meaning of Christmas for you? As a kid, I am sure the gifts under the tree started to overshadow Jesus at times. The rush of getting things purchased and wrapped and making Christmas plans and writing Christmas letters, all at times seem to overshadow the joy and excitement we should have for the Christ child being born into this world. Herod allowed power to overshadow the birth of Jesus by making How COVID has affected us
