Salvation Confusion

If you listen to one preacher give an invitation to “invite Jesus into your life,” he might lead you in a prayer. If you listen to another preacher prodding you to become a Christian, he might be telling you to be baptized. Yet another preacher might tell you to “Believe in your heart” and you will be saved.  If these preachers are all Christian, Bible-believing men, then why the confusion? Why are they offering what appears to be conflicting invitations? I’m How COVID has affected us

Focus on the Team – Part 1

On Monday, August 29, Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees hit his 50th home run of the season. He leads the MLB in home runs this year as the Yankees pursue the World Series pennant. The post-game interview went like this, “It’s just another number,” said Judge, who was intentionally walked twice Monday before going deep. “It’s great, but I’m kind of upset we lost. It’s a close game we could’ve won.”“I’m not downplaying it. I just don’t like How COVID has affected us

Happy Birthday Jesus

It’s almost my best friend’s birthday!!! I’m so excited to celebrate! Of course, I’m referring to my bestie Jesus! I like to look at Christmas as more of a birthday party for him so that I remember WHY we are celebrating. It can get a little too reindeer, green tree, shopping, lights, and movies for me.  Don’t get me wrong…I like all of those things too…I just don’t LOVE them. Not even close to how much I love Jesus! What Does Christmas Mean to You?

Merry Christmas! It’s that special time of year again when colored lights adorn the house at the end of the street. The stores are playing Christmas tunes as people hustle through the isles filling their shopping carts with gifts to make the little ones smile. “Buy now pay later” is the catchphrase of the season. Christmas trees, wrapping presents, baking cookies, and parties with family and friends are all part of this festive time of year.  A reporter asked various How COVID has affected us

What Do You Love About Being a Follower of Jesus?

This morning I received a call from a “Connecting Agent” out of Grand Rapids.  Lisa and I are selling our house and planning to move across town. (No, we aren’t leaving KCC. You can’t get rid of me that easily)  Anyway, as I was talking with this guy he was asking me about our house and what was so great about it.  And so I started to tell him.  We have a great neighborhood and a great yard and we How COVID has affected us

Jesus Runs To The Mess

By David Acker, Youth Minister Here a great number of disabled people used to lie – the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been a paralytic for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” “Sir,” the man replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. Emotional MEMORY OF 9/11 AND RESURRECTION

This is the anniversary of 9/11, a horrific event in the history of our nation. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the planes hit the towers. Events like this shake our emotions so violently that they carve a lasting memory in our minds. The emotional impact of the event is what makes the memory so vivid and long-lasting. As a Christian, there is another significant event, equally horrific, that I recall. And even though How COVID has affected us

The Lion of Judah

By David Acker, Youth Minister “I don’t need to do that.” My heart has said at times. I shake my head to rattle out memories at times. I go for a walk in the woods, and try to have a squawk of a hawk or the crashing waves of the ocean drown out my thoughts but quiet pervades this me. I am having another innate struggle with God. It is a naturally quiet moment with no one else in sight. How COVID has affected us
