What Do You Love About Being a Follower of Jesus?

What Do You Love About Being a Follower of Jesus?

This morning I received a call from a “Connecting Agent” out of Grand Rapids.  Lisa and I are selling our house and planning to move across town. (No, we aren’t leaving KCC. You can’t get rid of me that easily)  Anyway, as I was talking with this guy he was asking me about our house and what was so great about it.  And so I started to tell him.  We have a great neighborhood and a great yard and we just replaced this and we adjusted that and so on and so on and so on.

His angle, of course, is to have realtors with their company bring buyers to our home and needing information that the agents could use to entice people to want to buy our home.  As I thought about that this morning, I thought, “If someone were to ask me what is so great about Christianity, how would I answer him/her?”

What about you?  If someone were to inquire of you about being a Christian and following God and believing the only way to salvation is through Jesus, how would you answer?  1 Peter 3:15 tells us to always be prepared to give an answer for what we believe.  In Romans 1:16, Paul tells us that he is not ashamed of the gospel.  How is our preparedness when it comes to sharing God’s Word?  And are we “all in” to the point that we feel no shame for what we believe?

I love being a Christian because (in no certain order) John says it entitles me to be a child of God.  John also said that believing in Jesus results in eternal life.  In that same verse, John tells us that the gift of eternal life comes because God loved us enough to send His only Son to die.  Genesis tells us that God created the Heavens and the Earth.  I love being a Christian because it connects me to the author of life and the universe. And finally, Christianity gives me hope in a hopeless world. Why do you love being a Christian?
