Priorities

Priorities

Col 3:2 “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.”

The youth are currently working through a series that focuses on priorities. We’ve been discussing the importance of having our priorities in order and what it means to align our priorities with God’s. It is important to make sure that the things important to God are also important to us.
We can get caught up in the business of life, and we can be influenced by the world around us so much that we lose sight of what is really important. Too often we only look inward to what we want in life: fun, pleasure, money, possessions, popularity, and acceptance. Paul reminds the church in Colossae to make sure they have Godly priorities on their mind. He tells them, that in Christ they have died to their old way of life. That still rings true with us today. The things we used to say, do, and think, are no longer a part of who we are in Christ.

The biggest indicator of where our priorities lie is our calendar. What we spend most of our time doing will show what is most important to us. What does your schedule say is most important to you; money, entertainment, family, God? I would challenge you to take a look at your schedule; pray and evaluate what it says about you and your priorities. Ask God to help you orient your life in a way that tells the world: God is most important to me!
