Friendship Palm
I’ve never had a green thumb…in fact, I might be a serial plant murderer. When I receive a plant as a gift I smile and cringe inside. I wonder how long the poor plant will make it before I neglect it. One year for Mother’s Day I got two plants for my front porch. I kept them alive all the way until August! That was my record until one rainy day in November of 2019, a friend from my Titus 2 women’s How COVID has affected us
A Letter From God
“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” Those words were written by Paul in a letter to the believers at the Corinthian Church (2 Corinthians 3:2-3). We don’t write handwritten letters too much anymore, do we? It’s easier to write How COVID has affected us
Tough Questions in Genesis
At our most recent Root Beer Bar Bible Study, we read and studied Genesis chapter four. Challenging questions come up in chapter four, but there are also some firsts that come up in chapter four. The most challenging question is, “who does Cain marry?” The back story is that Cain kills his brother Abel in chapter four and God puts a curse on him that he will be a wanderer and a fugitive and that the ground (he was a How COVID has affected us
The Eye of the Storm
I have never liked storms. As a child, I would wake up during thunderstorms and go get into bed with my sister. I am trying to be more grown-up about storms, but I still don’t love them like some people. I know some people that REALLY like storms. My husband loves to go drive out to the water and watch a storm come through. But even lovers of storms, don’t love life storms. I don’t know anyone who likes storms How COVID has affected us
KCC to host Comedy Illusionist Tom Coverly
Tom Coverly will be sharing Sunday morning, July 18, at both the 9:00 am and 10:30 am worship hours and then again Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM at Railroad Square. Tom Coverly, a former youth pastor for 12 years, felt the call of God on his life to travel the world using comedy magic to share the Gospel. In the first year in 2007, God exploded the door open for Tom to speak in 38 states. This show is a How COVID has affected us
A Culinary Parable
I am so happy to be able to eat again! My favorite restaurant has finally opened back up! Their menu is new and improved. They have the best cook in the area. My favorite meal, a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, steak fries, and coke is once again right down the street! Oh, how I have missed food. In case you are wondering, I stopped eating when the pandemic forced my favorite restaurant to shut its doors. I knew it How COVID has affected us
How Great is Our God?
Monday we started on the roofing project for Manistee Church of Christ. I was told by the recon team (Jeff Badgero) that we were going to have to strip the old shingles off. The job then became bigger in my head. He suggested we have a plan to start stripping shingles so that we could re-shingle on Saturday. The project became overwhelming in my head. I had quite a few people tell me they couldn’t get on the roof due How COVID has affected us
Technical Difficulties
Living in the information age certainly has it’s advantages! I can check the weather before I get out of bed, find out the news for the day and see that my friend from high schools’ daughter lost a tooth! I use technology so much that when it’s gone or limited I start to panic! Sunday at church we had a lesson about patience. I had found a really cute color page for the kids to do. It was on Google, How COVID has affected us
Springtime Reminders
Springtime brings new growth including tree blossoms, flowers, and grass. God takes out his colored markers and daps color all over His creation. Greens and blues are prominent on the ground and sky. Oranges, yellows, and reds highlight the flowers while whites and pinks set the trees and bushes apart. Squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and butterflies seem to appear out of nowhere. The Robins are out early pecking in the yard for worms to feed their young ones. Grey and Fox How COVID has affected us
The Kids of Summer
Monday night before the Root Beer Bar Bible study at church (which was awesome by the way), I ventured over to the baseball fields to take in a little tee ball. I thought maybe I could do some scouting for the Tigers and discover the next Miggy. While there I walked up to the third base side fence and watched with some friends an inning or so. I don’t know if there is anything much cuter than a 4-5 year How COVID has affected us
