Back-to-School Supply Drive
Help local students start the school year with confidence! Throughout the month of July, Kalkaska Church of Christ is partnering with Father Fred Foundation to collect basic school supplies for area children and families. Donations can be placed in the collection area located in the church lobby. In addition to donating supplies, you can make a difference by volunteering at the Back-to-School Event on Wednesday, August 5, at Kalkaska Middle School. Small change can make a big difference. Pick up an IDES Fish Bank from the church lobby, take it home, and fill it with your spare change, dollar bills, or whatever God lays on your heart. Then return your filled fish bank to the church by Sunday, August 16. Every donation helps support International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES) as they provide emergency food to families facing hunger and crisis around the world. In Jesus’ day, children weren’t thought of as equals with adults. They would be given chores to do. They would eat after their father had eaten. Today, in my daily Bible reading plan, I read in 2 Kings chapter 13 about King Jehoash, King of Israel, who went down to see the prophet Elisha before Elisha died. Freedom Worth Celebrating
This week marks 250 years since the birth of our nation. That’s a milestone worth stopping to notice. Like most of you, I’ll probably spend some time around a grill, wave at a parade, watch a few fireworks, and soak up another Northern Michigan summer. Planting Seeds in the Rainforest!
As we wrap up another incredible week of Rainforest Falls VBS, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. This week, more than 100 children filled our church with laughter, excitement, worship, and learning. Alongside them were over 50 amazing volunteers who gave their time, energy, and hearts to make this week possible.
