Wired Youth – Fall 2023 Launch

Wired Youth – Fall 2023 Launch

Summer is coming to a close and it’s time to get this new school year started! I can hardly believe this will mark the start of my THIRD school year here at KCC!! A ton of prayer and reflection has gone into this past year, and I’m truly excited for what God has in store for this upcoming school year. Right off the bat we’re stepping things up a few notches by launching a new Student Leader initiative at youth group.

This initiative will change the atmosphere of youth group by empowering seven of their peers to step up to the call of leadership. These seven student leaders will be active participators. They will lead with integrity and a humble servant heart. They will show other youth what it looks like to volunteer to pray and read scripture. They will pave the way in inviting new faces from week to week, making it THEIR mission to see every teen in Kalkaska and surrounding areas reached with the message of the gospel. They will strive to ignite joy in others through the joy they have in Jesus. Realizing their attitude is contagious. They will greet new faces each week and help them get plugged into the group. They will make it their goal to shepherd other youth alongside them, helping lift up future leaders. Having student youth leaders will give us the opportunity to really meet our youth where they’re at, and ensure we’re tackling the topics they need to tackle. God has blown the door wide open with this opportunity and I’m so proud of the crew we’ve assembled!

We’re kicking off the school year with a Back to School Bash on Wednesday September 6th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm! This will be the biggest youth party I’ve thrown to date, with several prize drawings, multiple bounce house inflatables, music, new interactive games, and a delicious spread of food! I’m really stoked our youth will have an entire week of school to pass out flyers and invite their peers in person. I’m eager to see the turnout and can’t wait to see these youth gathered together in His name!

Another change we’re making is to the snack time on Wednesday nights. Last year there was some confusion on if youth needed to eat dinner beforehand, as some weeks we provided dinner, and other weeks we only provided a snack. In an effort to help parents and youth know what to expect, we are only going to provide a light snack each Wednesday, EXCEPT for the last Wednesday of each month. On the last Wednesday of each month, we will provide a meal to the youth. So, if it’s not the last Wednesday of the month, make sure your youth is fed dinner beforehand.

In the past many of you have helped provide snacks for our youth, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each of you! As we’re gearing up for this upcoming school year, It’s time to sign up for another slot! If you feel called to support our youth in this manner, please consider signing up by clicking HERE! You can sign up for a snack night or for one of our end-of-month dinners. If you feel called to support the youth in this way but don’t have time, you can also donate money towards the purchase of snacks by clicking HERE.
