YES, I AM!

YES, I AM!

Are you a peacemaker or a pot stirrer? Of course, there are things in the middle but at the end of the day, there are generally these two general categories. I’m embarrassed to say that at times in my life I have instigated things or stirred the pot. Keeping the peace is something that I strive for. No one wants drama and turmoil in their life.

But if you are a peacemaker is that just a nice word for doormat? Sometimes it can feel like that. Matthew 5:9 says, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God”. Okay…that does NOT sound like a doormat…that sounds wonderful.

When we are in the middle of a conflict, especially if we are “right” it is really hard to just end things peacefully and with love. It is natural to feel the need to justify yourself. To prove your side of the story. To be declared the victor. It feels good to win. It feels good to be proven right.

Guess what feels better than that? Being called a child of God. I LOVE the worship song “Who You Say I Am”. There is a line that says I’m a child of God…YES I AM! When I sing that song I SHOUT the line YES I AM. It literally gives me goosebumps. The next time you are in a conflict and tempted to prove your righteousness remember you are a child of God. YES YOU ARE!!!!
