Going to the Source

Do you ever find yourself reading a book or watching a movie and everything is going along great and then there is some big misunderstanding and everything falls apart? I find myself yelling at the TV screen….”Just go ask them!” Alas! No one ever does and there is a whole chapter of turmoil because of it. 

I have saved myself TONS of drama and anxiety in my life by following a very simple rule. GO TO THE SOURCE. You may not find the answer that you want, but at least you heard it from the person with whom you are having an issue. 

Matthew 18:16 says, “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

I have had this happen many times. It is better to clear things up than to have turmoil between people. The hard thing is when others have a problem and they don’t come to you. I have had people come to me months and sometimes years later and say that they had a problem with me, but it was all a misunderstanding. I can’t imagine the stress that they felt during that time and being oblivious to the problem I couldn’t help. 

While this is great advice for relationships I think it’s also great advice for the Bible. If you think something is in the Bible, but you aren’t sure GO TO THE SOURCE. Google is great but if you are looking for advice for your life Go to the Bible. If you are struggling with sin and you want someone to tell you what you are doing is ok, you will find Google articles and fellow sinners to tell you it’s fine. If you want the truth…GO TO THE BIBLE!
