Paid In Full

Have you ever been in over your head? Like completely and utterly overwhelmed? I know I have. Whether it be financially, with work projects, school, or home-life, I think we have all found ourselves in that situation a time or two.

And how have you felt when the pressure was taken off your plate? RELIEF! I know for myself, things like VBS can really add a lot of pressure. But when it starts and the kids show up, all of the hard work and planning falls into place and everyone can just relax and enjoy it! That is a great feeling.

What about debt? Have you ever had what seemed to be an overwhelming pile of bills? Every day not paying them adds to the interest and the stress and weight on your shoulders. Have you ever worked hard and paid off debt? What a great feeling to get rid of those bills…and the stress.

My friend is fighting glioblastoma right now. It is a pesky brain cancer. It has no cure. She has endured several ER visits, MRIs, brain surgery, a stay in ICU, 6 weeks of radiation and chemo therapy and she is getting ready to start a new very expensive treatment. As you can imagine the bills were piling up. We were so busy running to appointments and keeping up with treatments to even open the bills. They were overwhelming. It was a huge stress. Recently we held a fundraiser for her. After the fundraiser we sat down together with the bills. I was on the phone for 2 and a half hours. But we were able to pay EVERY SINGLE BILL!!! Praise God! This was a better feeling than paying off debt…because it was a gift from others. My friend was overcome with emotion at such a huge gift! I was crying tears of joy.

It really made me realize how very lucky we are to have Jesus. He paid our debt in full. He took it upon himself on the cross. We didn’t earn that. We didn’t work hard for that. It was a GIFT! Imagine if my friend had all of that medical debt and we had a fundraiser and she had turned away that money. She wouldn’t have peace in that area. How many of us have done that exact thing to Jesus? We see the gift, we know what it does…it wipes away our mistakes, and still many turn away from it.

If you have family and friends struggling in sin, make sure they know about that gift. It is such a relief to be in the arms of Jesus. Our debts paid in full!
