Seeking Jesus?
Big Idea: When looking for Jesus you may not find what you are looking for, but if you do find Him you will find exactly what you need. Wise men were seeking a miracle – Matthew 2:1-2 Andrew and Peter were seeking a Messiah – John 1:35-39; Acts 1:6 Followers of Jesus were seeking manna – John 6:26 What are you seeking? A Rejected King
Sermon Scripture: 1 Samuel 16 Sermon Big Idea: Rejection is a heart condition. Will we believe in our hearts how Jesus came into the world and what He came to do? Israel rejected God as King because they didn’t like what they could see. (1 Samuel 8:1-7) God rejected Saul as King because of what Saul wouldn’t see. Don’t forget the bread
God uses an unlikely love story at the “house of bread” to fulfill his promise. Intro: You can’t deny love as the overwhelming thread that holds together God and his people. Elimelech’s love was providing for his family. (Ruth 1:1-2) Naomi’s love was a willingness to release her family. (Ruth 1:8) Ruth’s love was the sacrifice of self. It’s all about the outfit
Adam and Eve recognized their nakedness. (Genesis 3:7) Surrendering to Jesus is being recognized as a disciple of Jesus. (Matthew 22:1-14) As we follow Jesus we can recognize the wrinkles falling from our life. (Ephesians 5:25-27) Our good works will make us recognizable as the bride. (Revelation 19:1-9) May our clothing reflect not our past, but our wrinkle-free future of righteous deeds.
A Gift From the Host
Luke 19:1-10 Sermon Big Idea: Truly inviting Jesus to our feast is to let him be the host. Short in stature, short in morals, but a tall stack of money had he. Zacchaeus couldn’t resist the desire to see Jesus. What identified Zacchaeus was replaced with Jesus. Jesus healed another blind man. Jesus became the host of Zacchaeus’ house by way of salvation.

A Royal Reversal – Pt. 2
Esther 9:20-28 Sermon Big Idea: From destruction to salvation, God’s power can turn any of us around. Purim is celebrated on a memorable month. (9:20-22) Purim is celebrated in remembrance of the adversary. (9:23-24) Purim is a celebration of rescue! (9:25-28) And then came Jesus! (Matthew 1:21) Our remembrance resembles that of Purim. However, the focus is on Jesus, not the adversary. And, our focus is not on rescue, but on salvation!
A Royal Reversal – Pt. 1
Sermon Scripture: Esther 8-10 The Big Idea: When we stand strong, God will deliver on his promises. When we turn our heart away from him we end up in exile. Esther gets a reversal of fortune from the king. God reminds people of their upcoming reversal of home. Israel gets a reversal from victims to victors. The Persians and Medes feared the reversal of position. When we stand strong in Christ, no reversal is necessary.
