(im)Perfect?

Jesus had an (im)perfect family tree – Matthew 1:1-16 Jesus had an (im)perfect earthly beginning – Luke 1:26-35; Matthew 2:16 Jesus invites imperfect people to join His family tree and become perfect as he is perfect – 1 Timothy 2:1-4; John 1:12; 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 And that’s why I choose Him as my King!

The Stump that Discovered the Tree of Life

Despite God’s warnings, Judah rejected God. (2 Chronicles 36:15-16) Despite Nebuchadnezzar’s belief, God used him to punish Judah. (2 Kings 25:1-2) Despite Daniel’s warning, Nebuchadnezzar fell victim to his pride. (Daniel 4:27;29-33) Despite Nebuchadnezzar’s punishment, he lifted his eyes to Heaven and his reason returned to him. (Daniel 4:34-35) If Judah would have looked to God alone, their reason would return, and they too would have recognized He is the only true God. Daniel 4:1-3

An Underrated Discovery

Josiah didn’t let his father influence his pursuit of God. (2 Chronicles 34:1-2) At 16 he sought God (2 Chronicles 34:3a) At 20 he affirmed his love by destroying idols (2 Chronicles 34:3b) At 26 he made history (2 Chronicles 34:15; 35:18) Josiah discovered that God… Deals out justice (2 Chronicles 34:24-25) Protects those who seek after Him with a tender and humble heart. (2 Chronicles 34:26-27) The power of God’s Word is that it will lead us to know How COVID has affected us

Divided and Conquered

Israel was divided because… Solomon had a lost heart. (1 Kings 11:9-11) David had a faithful heart. (1 Kings 11:12-13) God divided it. (1 Kings 11:14,23,31-32) Psalm 86:1-11 NIV Psalm 86:11 (NIV) – “…give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” An undivided heart… has a single allegiance Shows humility is eager to learn

The Most Useless Sermon I’ll Preach

Solomon started out with a specific purpose (2 Samuel 7:13; 1 Kings 3:5-9) Solomon turned his heart away from God and toward his own pleasures (1 Kings 11:1-3) Solomon came to the conclusion that everything under the sun is vanity (Ecclesiastes 1:12-14) Except one: “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; 1 Kings 9:6-7)
