Whose Team Are You On?

One of the first things you’ll learn about me is that I’m a HUGE sports fan. As a kid, baseball was my first love. I started playing basketball when I was in Junior-High, and ended up playing all through College. I learned many lessons in my years playing basketball; lessons about the game, life, and even some spiritual lessons.  I went to a Christian High School, so sports were never just about the game. My coach focused just as much How COVID has affected us
Be Thankful

Counting Thankfulness

Paul writes to the Philippian church in Philippians 1:3, “I thank my God every time I remember you.” I feel the same way when I think of my God, my family members, and my church!  Thanksgiving is just over 2 weeks away and I can’t help but pause and reflect upon what I am thankful for in 2021. When so much is wrong with the world today, it is imperative that we reflect on what is right. Below are my top 4 things How COVID has affected us
Man with shovel in deep snow

Say It Ain’t So!

Well, as I sit here in my office on Tuesday afternoon, I am looking out my window and the snow is coming down. And I don’t mean coming down a little bit, but pouring down like God turned on a spigot or snow making machine in Heaven. This is the kind of snow that solidifies for people that, “yes, we should go south for the winter.” The kind of snow that says, “see you later, fall, winter is moving in early.” And, as How COVID has affected us

Paid In Full

Have you ever been in over your head? Like completely and utterly overwhelmed? I know I have. Whether it be financially, with work projects, school, or home-life, I think we have all found ourselves in that situation a time or two.  And how have you felt when the pressure was taken off your plate? RELIEF! I know for myself, things like VBS can really add a lot of pressure. But when it starts and the kids show up, all of How COVID has affected us

To Serve, or to Leave for Someone Else to Handle

When I was younger, I remember watching a show called “Dirty Jobs”. The host would venture into some of the dirtiest and disgusting jobs that keep America going. From sewers and fuel tanks, all the way to animal dung, host Mike Rowe got down and dirty with American workers in jobs that most of us probably never knew existed. The fact is, If it wasn’t for these jobs and the hardworking Americans that handle them, many of the luxuries we enjoy today wouldn’t How COVID has affected us

A Base for Truth

By Tim Severance, Associate Minister TRUTH has come under fire in the last decade. Culture has made TRUTH subjective, more of a feeling than a fact. “You have your TRUTH and I have my TRUTH,” they say. Or maybe you have heard, “That may be TRUE for you, but it’s not TRUE for me.” (To debate type of reasoning, check out “I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist” by Norman Geisler & Frank Turek) However, is this whittling How COVID has affected us

Philippians 4:6-7

Emotionally Challenged

By Darrell Boger, Worship Leader “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 October is a month of great, predictable change. Historically it has proven to be a difficult month for me.  The same challenges seem larger and more daunting and routine tasks become more How COVID has affected us

The Fruit of the Spirit

It is the first week of our after-school programs! I am sooo excited! After a shortened year two years ago and last year, it is a relief to be meeting again. I would love your prayers for these kids. They have been through a lot. For some of the younger kids, they haven’t ever had a normal year.  This year we will be learning the Fruit of the Spirit. I am so glad that this is what we will be How COVID has affected us

Family

Over the years I have had many different “families” whether it was youth group, a sports team, small group, or Church family.  Now, I can add one more family to my story, KCC!  Family is a vital part of being human.  It doesn’t matter if it’s biological, social, or ideological.  No matter how hard you may try, you can’t get away from families, even people who may distance themselves from their family will find a new one wherever they end up.  We naturally gravitate to How COVID has affected us
