Questions of Christmas

Questions of Christmas

December has arrived, and that means the Christmas Season is upon us! If any of you are like me, you’ve been keeping your wife at bay until after Thanksgiving. If she had her way, it would be Christmas in our house all year long.

There is something special about preserving the holiday for this specific time each year. We anticipate it. We plan for it. We don’t take it for granted. During the Christmas season, several characteristics of Christ readily shine through us. I think that is one of my favorite parts. Have you ever considered it? Many of us can get caught up in the commercialized aspects of the holiday, but no one can deny the joy that radiates through this season. If you’re a Christian you know where this joy truly comes from, but regardless if the reason is acknowledged, the joy remains.

This season blatantly reminds me that we are ALL created in God’s image. Believers and non-believers alike. While sin has snuck in, it hasn’t erased the imprint of God. Think of your favorite part of the Christmas season. Can you tie it back to Christ? We’ve all heard the phrase “Jesus is the Reason for the Season”, but I say… Jesus IS the Season.

During this holiday time, people are searching. They are attempting to answer a question they may not realize they’ve asked: Am I loved? Are you looking for these people? Are you telling those in your circle that God found them worthy of the ultimate gift? Many of us will spend more than we probably should to make sure our loved ones know we love them… but remember, Jesus paid everything He had. Reflecting on that fact isn’t something we preserve for Easter. It is the very core of THIS holiday, and in fact, it is the core of each and every day.

Share His gift with the world. Shine the Godly characteristics He embedded in you, to everyone around you. Find the TRUE joy of this season and make it the center of every decision you make. Bless your loved ones with a gift to show your love, but don’t neglect to remind them of the eternal gift they have through Jesus, because THEY were worth it. They were loved THAT much.

Huddle around those who have lost their loved ones this season and remind them they are not alone. This season shines so bright, but for many, it is a glaring reminder of what they no longer have. Mail the card, send the text, buy the gift, sing the songs, share the hug, save the seat, provide the meal.

Answer that question we have all asked over the years and remind them that YES, they are so dearly loved.
