Amazing Grace Race

Amazing Grace Race

Last week was one of my favorite weeks that I do with the Octane kids. We did an Amazing Grace Race. It is similar to the Amazing Race show, where teams have to complete tasks. At each challenge, they received a food item to put together a Thanksgiving basket. After the baskets are compiled the teams made cards to go with the baskets.

The kids all enjoyed the game, but the best part was knowing that they were doing something kind for someone else. On Monday, I was able to get an awesome group of some of our KCC Kidz who are homeschooled together to deliver the baskets.

Watching the kids visiting and fellowshipping with the recipients was WONDERFUL! We used to do a lot of visiting seniors and sick people in the church before COVID, but then I stopped doing the visits. I worried about bringing germs in etc. Seeing the faces of our visitors light up has changed my thoughts on this. If someone wants a visitor, I want to make that happen.

So….after churning lots of things around in my brain, Checking in with God, and seeking wise counsel, I’m starting a new squad! It’s called DINOS. Developing Intergenerational Nurturing Opportunities Squad. It is based on Psalm 71:9, Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.

The BEST part of this squad is that anyone of any age can join! We will be doing visits once a month on Mondays for about an hour or so. I don’t have all of the details worked out yet…but stay tuned! Please be in prayer about how you can be part of this group!
