Thowing Off Everything that Hinders

Thowing Off Everything that Hinders

Sometimes you read something and the truth of it impacts you and you know you have to share it.

My sister, Lisa Seeley, posted this recently on her Facebook page and I am taking this opportunity to share it with you.

Weeds stink. Look at how bent over this poor plant is because of a nasty weed that attached itself to it and is weighing it down. It made me think of sin. Sin does the exact same thing. Even though the weed started growing innocently enough next to the plant, before long it found its way onto the plant. Not long after, the weed was intricately wrapped around the plant, ensuring it would not be easily removed. This is just like sin! We think we can be okay letting sin be next to us – no harm, right? We might not even notice when sin begins to attach itself to us – it’s hard to notice when it becomes part of us. (Sin EASILY entangles!!!) Then we wonder why we feel so weighed down, not realizing the damaging effects once sin has wrapped its nasty self around us. I love visuals and this one is going to stick with me and I pray it sticks with you. Let’s let the warning from this weed, along with the warning from God’s Word help deter us from being so casual about the effects of sin.

“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ ‭
