What’s NEXT (New EXciting Time)

What’s NEXT (New EXciting Time)
Another year is almost in the books.  How has 2022 been for you?  If you did an assessment of the year, would you label it, “Exceeded Expectations,” “Met Expectations,” “Neither Exceeded nor Met Expectations,” “Did not Exceed Expectations,” “Didn’t even come close to Exceeding or Meeting Expectations,” or “I didn’t have any expectations”?
And what topics or headings would you use to decide how the year was?  Would you look at your financial situation now compared to the end of last year?  Would you look at your waistline now compared to last year?  Would you look at contentment in your career compared to last year?  Would you look at your physical health this year compared to last year?  What areas would cause you to answer the question about expectations met or exceeded for the year?
That is where my mind is for the church right now.  How would we gauge 2022 as a church?  We did 18 projects with Freedom Builders.  We had 31 people either get baptized or join the church.  We gave away in excess of $70,000 to local and worldwide missions.  Titus 2 and Basecamp are thriving.  Attendance is slowly getting back to pre-Covid numbers.  Ephraim and Sara have over 130 youth signed up for their programs.  This week Ephraim will have over 80 teens in the building for a New Year’s Eve Eve Eve party.
All of those things sound great, don’t they?  Yet, as a church, we have to look ahead to what’s NEXT.  The Bible says in Proverbs 29:18 in the KJV, “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”  What’s NEXT in helping people journey with Jesus?  Where does that vision come from?  1 John 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.”  James 5:16b says, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”  He goes on to talk about how Elijah, a sinful man like us, prayed and God brought drought and then rain at his request.
The long and short of it is that we, as a church, must look ahead to what God has in store for His church and that voice and direction for KCC will come as we inquire of our Holy God.  I am calling all prayer warriors and prayer warriors in training to start calling out to God, asking Him for wisdom for the leaders of this church to know what’s NEXT.  And I can’t wait to hear what His answer is!
