It's Time Sermon Series at Kalkaska Church of Christ

If Not Now, When?

Sermon Scripture:  John 2-3 Sermon Big Idea:  It’s time for discipleship.  It’s time to grow.  It’s time to journey with Jesus. “…helping people journey with Jesus.” Jesus said it wasn’t yet his time (John 2:4) Jesus had zeal (zay hos) for God’s house. (John 2:17) Jesus knows what is inside of us. (John 2:25b) John 3:1-21 Nicodemus waited for the right time. Nicodemus had zeal (zay hos) for the law. Nicodemus had his inside exposed. John 7:50-51 John 19:39

In His Steps

Special guest speaker Joe Heins, Woodburn Christian Children’s Home, shares a message about following Christ.

The Original Model is still the Best

Jesus 1.0 is still the best version to utilize.  (Proverbs 27:17) Jesus 1.0 taught us to glorify God and live as a light.  (Matthew 5:14-16) Jesus 1.0 spent time with committed and hope seeking people (Matthew 9:10-13) Jesus 1.0 shared a lot of meals.  (Matthew 26:26-28) Jesus 1.0 modeled and taught prayer.  (Matthew 6:5-13; Matthew 26:36,39) Church 1.0 grew using the original model.  (Acts 2:42) Read, Risk, Remember, Release:  Repeat This week’s 3:30 Journey Challenge The Spiritual Discipline of Discipleship How COVID has affected us

The Two Main Issues

Sermon Scripture:  Mark 12:28-34 While the politicians were arguing, a seeker of truth had an honest question. Jesus didn’t bring new wisdom to an old answer.  He brought new action to old instruction. The Scribe quoted the prophet Hosea revealing his knowledge of Scripture, but most importantly his understanding of it. Jesus challenges our confidence in eternity by telling the Scribe he is close. Voting Jesus simplifies our life’s agenda as there is only a 2 point plan.  Love God How COVID has affected us

Giving it all Away

Mark 10:17-31 The defining question The defining statement The defining response The defining promise Our response to the defining statement is exposed in our action! Pick your retirement plan Live with open hands Announce your answer with your actions Never forget God’s promise

The Building of a Church

Acts 2:14 – 2:47 “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” (Acts 2:40) The generation ignored God’s Word The generation ignored God’s signs The generation ignored, rejected, and killed the Savior “What should we do?” (2:37) Repent and be baptized Receive the Holy Spirit The people’s response was twofold:  (2:42-47) Attended Temple together Met in each other’s homes
