Jumping Into The Cage

by David Acker, KCC Youth Minister I’ve watched Shark Week on the Discovery channel since I was in high school. I have always enjoyed it and been so intrigued by great white sharks. One of the episodes this year included Shaquille O’Neal overcoming his fear and swimming with sharks. They had to sew about four wetsuits together and make a custom cage to make this happen for this legendary NBA center. A lot of these shows seem to be pressing How COVID has affected us

Escape from Port-au-Prince

The Kalkaska Church of Christ has constructed their very own Escape Room. The idea came up as an evening activity for High School campers attending Wilderness Christian Assembly.  Three groups of campers came through it Monday evening and had a blast! This week the Escape room is open to anyone who wants to register at the church website and go through it. Donations are welcome for a 2018 mission trip to Haiti. Ironically, the title of the escape room is “Escape How COVID has affected us

Why is the church so judgmental?

Why is the church so judgmental?   Sadly, this negative perception of Christians is one of the top 3 most widely held by those outside the Church. Nearly 9 out of 10 young outsiders said that the term judgmental accurately describes present-day Christianity according to David Kinnaman in his book “UnChristian.” The other 2 negative labels on Christians: antihomosexual and hypocritical). How did we get here? How did we get this label? 1 Cor. 6:1-6 Judging one another, the world, How COVID has affected us

When do people receive the Holy Spirit?

Full Question: When do people receive the Holy Spirit? If it’s when you’re baptized, what about the people in Acts that had been baptized in the name of Jesus, but didn’t receive the Holy Spirit until the Apostles laid hands on them? Excellent question! You know your Bible too! Let’s start by just talking about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Trinity. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit or some say the Holy Ghost. Why does the church look and sound more like the world?

As part of our Tough Questions sermon series, we received this question: Question 1: Why does the church look and sound more like the world (it’s music, dress, message, and results)? I don’t’ think this is so much a question as a statement: The church looks and sounds more like the world! What’s going on?  If we were in a courtroom, the lawyer would object saying, that you are leading the witness! It’s like the question, “So how long have How COVID has affected us

The Kalkaska Church of Christ recently purchased a pre-owned 21-passenger Ford bus for ministry use! The bus can be used during the week with children’s programs, WASP & Octane, to transport children from the school to the church building. The youth will benefit from using the bus for transportation to outings locally like work projects, skiing, sledding, movies as well as longer trips to SuperStart CIY, Believe, Move, and the like. Church-wide outings are also in the works to places How COVID has affected us

Who Needs God? – New Faith Training Class

People are migrating away from religion at an unprecedented rate-Christianity in particular. Once upon a time, people believed religion offered solutions. Today, many people view religion as the problem. In this 6-part series, Andy Stanley addresses this tension and sets a foundation for faith that will stand up to the rigors of the real world. Join us Sundays at 10 am in the Worship Center starting March 4th.
