My little sister is through hiking the Appalachian Trail! I’m happy to have had the chance to sneak in a couple of days with her. We met her in Damascus, VA. Damascus, VA is a popular trail town on the Appalachian Trail. Each time I was planning the trip, I would type in Damascus and think of the story of Paul.

Paul, formerly known as Saul, was a persecutor of Christians. He was NOT a good guy. He had a life-changing event on the road to Damascus. He was traveling to search out followers of Jesus. He wanted to kill them. But he had an encounter with Jesus that forever changed his life and heart. Saul’s name was changed to Paul, and his heart was changed FOR Jesus. God continually shows us in the Bible that he can use the worst of humanity for the most amazing things. Paul became a missionary and spread the Gospel to many nations.
Sometimes we have things about ourselves that are ugly. We are all human after all. We may see things about others that we don’t like. God can use all of our Ugly and turn it into beauty to further His Kingdom.
Speaking of God making beautiful things…the road trip to Damascus, VA was stunning! The Appalachian Mountains are gorgeous, and they are so green and lush. The most beautiful thing I saw was my sister! And God is working through her and on her during this journey. Please join me in praying for her safety and health.
