1 Samuel 16:7b: “…The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Sometimes, I think we can get caught up in the how of worship – the songs, the prayers, the rituals. But what really matters, at the heart of it, is the why.
You know, the Bible talks about worshiping in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). That’s not just about feeling emotional or getting all the facts right. It’s about being genuine, bringing our real selves to God. It’s about an honest connection, acknowledging who He truly is and who we truly are in His presence.
Think about it. Out here, looking at the trees or the lake, there’s a natural sense of awe, right? Authentic worship can feel like that too – a genuine response to God’s goodness, His power, His love. It’s less about putting on a show and more about simply being real with the One who knows us best anyway.
It’s easy to get distracted, to go through the motions. But maybe today, we can just take a moment, wherever we are, to connect with God in a way that feels true and honest. No fancy words needed, just a genuine heart. That’s the kind of worship that truly resonates.
