Sometimes it can be difficult or uncomfortable to praise God with all we have. Sometimes we don’t know how to approach His throne, other times we don’t know what to do once we get there. I like to look at the life of King David and how he exalts the King of Kings. David, renowned for his courage and kingship, was equally celebrated for his deep and abiding faith in God. Throughout his life, David consistently turned to the Lord in praise and thanksgiving, recognizing God’s unwavering presence and guidance. While his life was far from perfect, his pursuit of the heart of God made him a king to be remembered.

The Psalms, a collection of sacred poetry largely attributed to David, are brimming with expressions of praise. In Psalm 18:1-3, he declares, “I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” This powerful testimony highlights David’s unwavering trust in God as his source of strength and protection.
Furthermore, David understood that true praise stemmed from a heart of gratitude. In Psalm 100:4, he sings, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” This verse emphasizes the importance of expressing gratitude to God through acts of worship and praise.
David’s life serves as a powerful example of the transformative power of praise. Through his unwavering faith and consistent expressions of gratitude, he found solace, strength, and unwavering hope in the Lord. His legacy of praise continues to inspire believers today, reminding them of the importance of acknowledging God’s presence and expressing gratitude for His blessings.
