Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day

This Sunday is Mother’s Day in the United States. A day to celebrate our mothers and their endless sacrifices for us. The local post office has a hanging that says: “Mothers are like buttons; they hold everything together.” None of us would be there without our mothers. So in tribute to moms, here are a few blessings from the Bible.

  • Proverbs 31:25-26: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”
  • Proverbs 31:28: “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
  • Proverbs 1:8-9: “Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.”
  • Proverbs 17:6: “Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.”
  • Proverbs 22:6: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
  • Proverbs 14:1: “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”
  • Proverbs 23:22: “Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.”

Be sure to take time this Sunday to honor and appreciate your mother. Send her a card. Call her on the phone. Take her out to dinner. Give her flowers. And if you are a mother yourself, happy Mother’s Day!
