We are officially in the season of thankfulness! As Christians we should continually be in this season, but as life goes on we can find ourselves drifting away from thankful and more towards discontentment. These holiday seasons are a great opportunity to realign our hearts. Why can we struggle to find thankfulness in our lives when there is clearly so much to be thankful for? I believe the enemy wants to distract us from our daily blessings. He wants us to focus on what’s going wrong in our life, or to focus on the things we want but don’t have. Discontentment is 100% part of the devil’s scheme. My daughter loves listening to upbeat Christian music, and the song ‘THANKFUL’ by Forrest Frank keeps coming to mind. If you aren’t familiar, I recommend giving it a listen! The song reminds us that for most, we’ve got a roof and a bed, a couple groceries to stay fed.
We’ve got a phone and clean water, and some shoes when we want to go farther. We have so much to be thankful for, but did you wake up this morning thinking Thank You Lord? I want to challenge you (along with myself) to put our thankfulness at the forefront of our minds this season. Really dive deep and check yourself. Where can we shift our eyes and shine a light on God’s provision? What should we be thankful for that has maybe gone unnoticed? Look for the areas God has woven Himself throughout your day.
There has been a recent highlight in my life! A couple of weeks ago during our Youth Sunday services, we called on our church family to help provide snacks for youth group on Wednesday nights. Over the last two weeks the goodies have been piling in!It brings a smile to my face seeing our church rise to help the next generation. I want to give a special thank you to anyone who has ever helped provide a snack or meal to our youth over the years. The support and service does not go unnoticed, and it is greatly appreciated!
This weekend we’re taking a large group of youth to Lansing for our annual fall retreat. Our youth love going to the Statewide convention held at Great Lakes Christian College. Youth come from all over the state to praise and worship together. They get to soak up in-depth biblical teaching while growing closer together through targeted discussion time. We always leave this weekend recharged for Christ. I want to say thank you in advance for praying over our youth and the adults going on this trip. I also want you to know I am praying for you. I pray you are able to find Jesus in the details of your life, this season and the next!
