A Twisted Truth

Job 1:1-2:10

1. Job was a man with actionable faith. (1:1-5)
   1. Feared and turned – Proverbs 1:7
   2. Proactive on behalf of his kids – Proverbs 22:6
2. Satan questioned Job’s faith and God’s knowledge. (1:6-12)
   1. Who is Satan? Adversary and slanderer
      1. Genesis 3:1-5 – crafty tempter
      2. 1 Peter 5:8 – devours
      3. Acts 5:3 – “takes over hearts”
   2. What does he get to do?
3. Job’s faith in and knowledge of God both increased. (1:13-22)
   1. Worshiped – James 4:7
   2. He learned the Lord gives and takes, but regardless, Blessed be His name. – Ephesians 6:11-12
4. Satan’s actions and Job’s inaction rattled Job’s wife. (2:1-10)
   1. Satan was given permission once again.
   2. Even Job’s wife told him to curse God and die.
      1. Our faith won’t always make sense to those close to us
      2. Sometimes the attack is so bad it turns others away from God

The truth we don’t want to hear is that to go forward in faith is to go backward in the world.
