Partiality
The wise men’s hearts were overshadowed by worship. Are they magi? (Daniel 1:20, 2:5, 2:24) Are they wise men? (1 Kings 10:7,9-10) Are they kings? (Isaiah 39:6, 60:10) Herod’s heart was overshadowed by worry and fear. King of the Jews? Builder and baby killer? (Matthew 2:16) The Priests and Scribes’ hearts were overshadowed by confusion. Seeking Jesus?
Big Idea: When looking for Jesus you may not find what you are looking for, but if you do find Him you will find exactly what you need. Wise men were seeking a miracle – Matthew 2:1-2 Andrew and Peter were seeking a Messiah – John 1:35-39; Acts 1:6 Followers of Jesus were seeking manna – John 6:26 What are you seeking? Who Are You?
Addiction starts as an escape from reality. Escape becomes addiction when gratification becomes desire. Desire is something we prioritize and are willing to sacrifice for. In other words, we want to be god. Breaking addiction starts with… solidifying whose we are. seeking His will for His creation. staying “poor in spirit” with a mourning heart. Who are you? I am a prince/princess, because I am a child of the one true King!
