The Way, the Truth, and the Life

Sermon Scripture: John 14:1-11

Big Idea:  Jesus is the only way to safely navigate through this dark world.

I started by showing pictures of two winding roads and comparing it to the mindset of people looking for God.

John 14:1

1. We look for rescue from our troubled hearts.
   1. Exodus 3:7
   2. Philippians 4:6-7
   3. Matthew 11:28-30
   4. 1 Peter 5:7
   5. John 14:27
   6. Matthew 6:31-33

John 14:2

2. We look for rest from a challenging journey.
   1. Exodus 3:8
   2. Numbers 13:23
   3. Revelation 21:1-4
   4. Revelation 22:1-5

John 14:3

3. We look for reassurance of the plan.
   1. Jeremiah 30:3
   2. Matthew 24:36
   3. Acts 1:11
   4. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
   5. 3x in Revelation 22 He says He is coming soon.

John 14:4-7

4. We look for a reliable entry plan.
   1. Exodus 19:5
   2. Exodus 20:19
   3. Jeremiah 33:8
   4. Mark 16:16
   5. Romans 10:13
   6. 1 Peter 3:18
   7. Exodus 12:13

John 14:8-11

5. And yet, we still resist.
   1. John 13:8
   2. John 12:4-5
   3. John 11:39-40

God sees us, He saves us, and He leads us.  It’s up to us to follow!

I ended with a picture of the longest, straightest road in the world and recited Proverbs 3:3-5 to end.
