Double Take

Mark 8:22-30 Mark gives us a double take of Jesus’ ministry. Jesus gives us a double take of instruction. Peter gives us the first and only take on Jesus’ true identity.

Time to Re-Focus

Mark 8:1-21 Compassion is caring for others Faith is belief there will be enough Understanding is knowledge of the perfection of Christ within the broken pieces The Pharisees tested Jesus because they didn’t believe The Pharisees wanted a sign of power Jesus’ answer is compassion The disciples were focused on the physical Jesus says to focus on the Spiritual Conclusion: It is time to re-focus!

Confronting the Mess

Mark 7:24-37 The message spread to the Gentiles Jesus tested the Gentiles The Gentiles proved their faith We confront the mess by… Opening our ears Loosening our tongue

America is Messy

Mark 7:1-23 Americans wanted to be free from a king. Americans didn’t want another king. Americans wanted to be united. God desires to be Israel’s King. The Israelites rejected God as King. Jesus reveals what truly unites us.

Christianity is Messy

Mark 6:30-56 The statue represents liberty The statue stands for the lamenting The statue provides a light Jesus’ words provide a message for the messy Jesus’ miracles provide hope for the hopeless Jesus’ death provides liberty for the lost

It’s All About Who?

Mark 6:14-29 Herod was to lead Judea Herod was led by sinfulness We are to be led by Jesus through the Holy Spirit Often times we allow sin to lead us Sin brings us to a confused conclusion The one true offensive message: it’s all about Jesus

The Authority Given to You

Jesus gave the 12 a calling. Jesus gave the 12 instructions. Jesus gave the 12 authority. We have been called by God. We have been given a mission. We have been given an offensive message.

The Truth Hurts

Mark 6:1-6 Jesus taught a Messianic Message. Jesus qualifications were questioned. Jesus was limited by faithless family. Jesus was amazed at their lack of faith.
