The Courage of Faith (by Matthew Phillips)

  • Introduction: Focuses on the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the book of Daniel.
  • The Challenge: King Nebuchadnezzar demands that everyone worship a massive golden idol, threatening death to those who refuse.
  • The Stand: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego choose to remain faithful to God, openly defying the king’s command despite the threat of a blazing furnace.
  • The Deliverance: God miraculously protects them in the fire, causing even the king to acknowledge the power of their God.
  • Key Lesson: True faith requires standing firm even when faced with impossible trials, trusting that God is present and capable of saving us.

Running Toward God’s Mercy (by Wyatt Wooden)

  • Introduction: Discusses the prophet Jonah and his attempt to flee from God’s calling.
  • The Disobedience: Jonah tries to escape God’s mission to preach to Nineveh by boarding a ship to Tarsus.
  • The Consequences: Through a great storm and being swallowed by a large fish, Jonah learns that he cannot outrun God’s instructions.
  • The Transformation: After repenting in the depths, Jonah follows God’s direction and sees the people of Nineveh turn to God.
  • Key Lessons:
    • We cannot run from God’s calling.
    • God’s mercy is far greater than our failures.
    • We are called to love those even when we struggle to do so.
