I get sucked into watching these short “Reels” on Facebook when I am doing some mindless scrolling. Some of them are pretty funny. Some are a bit disturbing. Imagine the “Reels” that would have been made back in Biblical times. Adam and Eve working the garden. Noah doing a daily clip of building the ark for 100 years. Moses recording a daily clip of leading the Israelites across the wilderness to the promised land.
Or how about Jonah in the belly of the fish? Daniel in the lions’ den? Oh, and David taking on Goliath? What would your favorite short video clip be from the Bible if it were available?
And what part of your story would you like to go back in time and record in short reels? Would it be something educational or instructional? Would it be a “what not to do” clip? I think mine would be a “Should have listened to the Holy Spirit on that one” clip series.
James 1:2-4 says, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
It’s hard to count difficult times as joy. However, when you make difficult times a “Reel” or short video clip, you realize that it was a short season, you learned something from it, and God has redeemed it.
And as we go through trials, James tells us that it builds up our faith to the point that we become perfect in our faith. Many people have monetized their “Reels” by having a bunch of people view them. I don’t think I would want to share my “Reels.” However, I do want to learn from my past so as to move on toward perfection.
May our future short video clips surpass our past clips by becoming how to live our life for Jesus clips, as opposed to how I wish I had listened clips.
