Divide and Be Conquered

1. Satan tried to divide the one flesh into two. (v. 1-5)
   1. He spoke directly to Eve
   2. He tried to confuse God’s words (3:1)
   3. The instruction was given to Adam (2:15-17)
2. Individually, Eve made a decision. (v. 6)
   1. No mention of a discussion
   2. Good for food, delight to the eyes, able to make one wise
3. Together, Adam and Eve discovered the consequences of sin. (v. 7-8)
   1. Before sin, Adam and Eve saw the world through innocent eyes
   2. After sin, Adam and Eve felt guilt and shame
4. Individually, Adam and Eve passed the blame. (v. 9-13)
   1. Adam blamed God
   2. Eve blamed Satan
   3. Guilt was on them both (James 1:13-15)
5. What God joined together, man separated. (Matthew 19:6)

See your marriage as a union (Eccl. 4:9-12)
Tell each other about your situations (Proverbs 27:9)
Identify the people/things trying to divide you
Commune with God regularly as a couple
Kick your pride aside
Your marriage is no accident.  Stick with it.
