What’s The Cause of All This?
Acts 5 Sermon Big Idea: If something is “of God,” you can’t stop it nor do you want to be the person or people trying to stop it. Ananias and Sapphira tried to deceive God. Acts 4:36-37 Matthew 19:16-22 Proverbs 1:7 Even in fear, many received Jesus. Acts 2:47 2 Corinthians 3:2 A new separation The religious leaders wanted to be relieved of Jesus. Ephesians 6:12 We can’t deceive God or defeat God. We can fight Him or follow Him.
Acts 4
Acts 4:23-31 When times got rough the First thing the Church did was Pray When they prayed, they prayed for the Right Things and with the Right Focus Less prayers for physical freedom and more prayers for spiritual freedom Less prayers for safety and security, and more prayers for salvation and sanctification Less prayers for free will and more prayers to be filled with the Holy Spirit Acts 4:32-37 They were Bold in their Generosity They understood that all their possessions and money, didn’t belong to them anyway; they belong to God They were one in heart and mind Other Scripture James 4:2-3 Psalms 24:1 Ephesians 4:3-6
